Who's querying whom?

Last summer I talked to an editor team (husband & wife) about what I was planning to write this fall and which came out as "The Volunteer." They were the wrong publisher for "Gutenberg's Other Book," but we were having a great conversation. They said they'd be interested in seeing "The Volunteer." We chatted a bit about other projects and they said they had a book in that was a romance. It needed a lot of editing and even then they weren't sure they'd be able to publish it because they really don't do romance. (Inspirational and literary) So I suggested that they send it to Long Tale Press and let us see it.

So I was thinking all week that I'm pleased enough with "The Volunteer" that I want to polish it up a bit this month and then query this couple by the end of the month. Today, I got a query from the woman who said she'd finished editing the author's book, but they weren't going to publish it, would I like to see it? Well, yes. Why not? and by the way, would you like to see "The Volunteer?" It would be too funny if I decided to publish her book and she published mine. Just too funny!
