Dodging the Deer

It was dark, near midnight, and I was traveling about 150 yards behind a semi truck at 69 mph. In the light reflected off the truck, I saw a shadow materialize in the median and suddenly it was charging across two lanes of Interstate, right where I would be in two seconds.

023MagersQuinnAfter I completed my reading at Magers & Quinn in Minneapolis on Tuesday night, I left for the drive across Wisconsin so that I would not have to drive nine hours on Wednesday before my presentation at City Center News & Books in Plymouth, IN. Many of the people who were at that reading were old friends who had come to see what I was up to now. Keith warned me about traveling across Wisconsin at night, saying there was a long empty stretch there with lots of wildlife. Be careful.

The adventure continues at The Rubricant.
