All About Salon Parties

048CaryI first became aware of this movement about a year ago when I was invited to a friend’s house to hear a local pianist play. Each guest was asked to bring a bottle of wine or hors d’oeuvre to share with the group and to make a $25 donation to the artist. In return, the guests had a casual social gathering and listened to some truly magnificent piano music in an intimate setting. Everyone had a great time and the artist received about $500 from the 20 or so guests.

Read all about my experience with Salon Readings at “The Rubricant.”

By all those standards, my two salon events have to be marked as resounding successes. I’d love to do more. In fact, let me know if you’d like to host an entertaining reading from The Gutenberg Rubric, or either of my other two novels. I’m pretty sure we can work something out! Note my travel schedule under the events tab above. If you are in Lexington, Louisville, St. Louis, Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Amarillo, Pueblo, Denver or Boise, I’m available in the next two weeks. Washington or Oregon, anytime in October.

I’m looking forward to seeing you!
