NaNoWriMo and Being a Writer

There only is one thing that every single writer does, without exception.

Write!

It sounds obvious. I’d filled the insatiable longing in my life for 30 years by writing sermons, articles, research papers, documentation, marketing materials, training programs, and specifications. But none of that writing satisfied my craving. Over 30 years, I’d also drafted half a dozen novels that were moldering in my attic in various states of disrepair. Any one of them had given me more satisfaction than all the real jobs I’d ever had. I didn’t just want to write; I wanted to write novels….

…Next week will mark the beginning of my 8th NaNoWriMo and 30 days later I will have completed the first draft of my 10th novel in just over 7 years.
