A better get-acquainted

Ganked from orbadvisor

1. WHO WERE YOU NAMED AFTER?
My uncle. Also my grandfathers middle name.

2. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CRIED?
I'm a sap. I cry at anything. I think the last time was when Miss Florida told about her explosion on Miss America Reality Check the other night.

3. DO YOU LIKE YOUR HANDWRITING?
I was told all through high school that I had terrible handwriting, but now when I write people who see it say that it is elegant and neat. I don't know what happened. I like it.

4. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LUNCH MEAT?
Summer Sausage.

5. DO YOU USE SARCASM A LOT?
Seldom. When I am it is painfully obvious.

6. DO YOU STILL HAVE YOUR TONSILS?
No, but I kept them until I was 20. Few days off from college and then I was back at it.

7. WOULD YOU BUNGEE JUMP?
No.

8. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CEREAL?
Kind of a toss-up between Honey Nut Cheerios and Frosted Mini-Wheats. I convince myself that if I'm eating Oats or high fiber shreaded wheat then the sugar won't hurt me.

9. DO YOU UNTIE YOUR SHOES WHEN YOU TAKE THEM OFF?
About half the time. I've gotten awfully lazy lately and tend to just kick them off.

10. DO YOU THINK YOU ARE STRONG?
Reasonably.

11. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ICE CREAM?
Just French Vanilla if it is served with about a pound of hot fudge.

12. WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU NOTICE ABOUT PEOPLE?
Face. I read an incredible amount when I see a person's face. I know almost at once if we will get along.

13. RED OR PINK?
Red, although I'll wear a pink shirt.

14. WHAT IS THE LEAST FAVORITE THING ABOUT YOU?
My age. I still think of myself as a twenty-something and the mirror doesn't match.

15. WHO DO YOU MISS THE MOST?
My college friends. I'm not good at keeping up with long distance relationships, but when Mark contacted me this week to join his Linked-In network I was ecstatic. I also miss Don down in Florida.

16. WHAT COLOR PANTS AND SHOES ARE YOU WEARING?
It's almost midnight. I've got red sweats and sheepskin slippers on.

17. WHAT WAS THE LAST THING YOU ATE?
Had a cookie at the writer's meeting tonight, then drank a glass of wine when I got home.

18. WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO RIGHT NOW?
Simon and Garfunkel: "Sounds of Silence".

19. IF YOU WERE A CRAYON, WHAT COLOR WOULD YOU BE?
Burnt Sienna.

20. FAVORITE SMELLS?
Grilling steak if we're talking general aromas in the air. On a personal note, however, nothing can beat the smell of the hair of the one you love.

21. WHO WAS THE LAST PERSON YOU TALKED TO ON THE PHONE?
DW.

22. DO YOU LIKE THE PERSON WHO SENT THIS TO YOU?
Ganked this from orbadvisor and as I told him in his comments, it's nice to get to know him a little better.

23. FAVORITE SPORTS TO WATCH?
Figure skating. How could I say anything else. I could watch my daughter on ice for hours.

24. HAIR COLOR?
Dark brown turning rapidly gray.

25. EYE COLOR?
Blue

26. DO YOU WEAR CONTACTS?
Yes, although when I'm feeling lazy or sick like today I just wear the glasses.

27. FAVORITE FOOD?
Really good steak or is it 70% Cocoa Dark Chocolate?

28. SCARY MOVIES OR HAPPY ENDINGS?
I don't watch scary movies. It doesn't necessarily have to have a happy ending, but I certainly tend more that direction. I like foreign films with subtitles.

29. LAST MOVIE YOU WATCHED?
I watched the 1988 edition of "The Bourne Identity" with Richard Chamberlain and Jaclyn Smith. It was so much better than the 2002 remake with Matt Damon. Not Matt's fault. The 1988 version just happened to be the story that Ludlum wrote.

30. WHAT COLOR SHIRT ARE YOU WEARING?
Oops. I said I'm ready for bed. So no shirt, but I'm wearing a black robe.

31. SUMMER OR WINTER?
More and more it's summer. I find winter where we came from to be too cold and swore I'd never shovel snow again, but here in the Pacific Northwest, winter is so gray and cold I spend a month in the spring trying to warm my bones up.

33. HUGS OR KISSES?
I kiss. I kiss friends in greeting and DW romantically. I kiss my daughter good night. Now that's not to say I don't do a lot of hugging, too, but the question was an either or.

34. FAVORITE DESSERT?
Chocolate

35. WHAT BOOK ARE YOU READING NOW?
Not actually in a linear read at the moment. I have half a dozen books on medieval manuscripts that I'm perusing, and I'm trying to have cloister27's manuscript for "Wiry Fellows" in the same building with me when I sit down to read. I keep leaving at the office or in my briefcase or some such.

37. WHAT IS ON YOUR MOUSE PAD?
ALDUS. You probably don't remember, but in 1986 Aldus Corporation came out with a revolution on the computer called desktop publishing with an application called PageMaker. I loved the product, married the sales rep, and still use the mousepad.

38. WHAT DID YOU WATCH ON TV LAST NIGHT?
Miss America Reality Check(DVR)

39. FAVORITE SOUND?
Hmmm. I guess I'd have to say either my wife's or my daughter's laugh.

40. ROLLING STONES OR BEATLES
Beatles

41. WHAT IS THE FARTHEST YOU HAVE BEEN FROM HOME?
Singapore.

42. DO YOU HAVE A SPECIAL TALENT?
I have a lot of talents, but none that I consider "special". I guess I'd have to say that it is in grasping lots of pieces of information and leaping to a next step that doesn't seem at first related to the rest of it.

43. WHERE WERE YOU BORN?
LaPorte, Indiana

44. WHO WAS YOUR FAVORITE TEACHER?
Paul Herschberger at Penn High School, Algebra teacher. He woke it up in me.

45. WHERE DO YOU LIVE?
Bellevue, Washington

number 18 i love that song. it haunts me for hours afterwards

i didnt know you were feeling bad.

feel better soon.

i dont until my shoes. ive been lazy for years.
Just a head-cold, my dear. I'm back up and functioning pretty well now. Nothing like what you've been going through. I at least untie my shoes before I put them on, unlike my daughter who totally crushes the backs of her shoes jamming her big feet into them without untying!
::giggles:: the dainty ice skater

:;the sneakers shudder:: fear her wrath! ::crunch::
I don't think I'd go bungee jumping either.

:) Why Burnt Sienna do you think?
Back in the 70s I was doing grad work in theatre. I designed a really cool set, but I knew the magic was going to be in how the paint caught the light. I discovered the incredible range of tones you could get from Burnt Siena scene paint and fell in love with it. I used a tint of Burnt Siena for a base and some of the darker tones for shadow and low light. Then I spattered portions of the set with blue and magenta. The floor was a masterpiece of painted parkay, again using multiple tints and tones of Burnt Siena. The set was absolutely glorious under lights. Every time I've thought of the color since then it gives me a warm feeling of discovery and success.
Very cool and interesting. :)
