Celebrating this week

Well, yesterday was my 20th wedding anniversary. People used to ask me how long I'd been married. To answer the question today, it would be 37 years, the past 20 very happily! I gave my wife a 50th wedding anniversary card and told her that I wanted her to know I was thinking ahead. We had some bubbly and this evening we are having a bottle of my favorite wine. Saturday I'm taking wife and daughter out to dinner, both for the anniversary and because I'll celebrate my 59th birthday. How exactly did that happen is what I'd like to know. I still think of myself like I did when I was 30 (unless I happen to be looking in a mirror). Can I actually be thinking about retirement and spending the rest of my "working" time writing novels? It seems impossible!

Well, that's all for this post. Sometime this week I'll boor you all with a lengthy reminiscence and something about what it means to grow older. I'll put it behind a cut so you don't have to be exposed to it. After all, that's what old folks do, isn't it?

"Get off my lawn!"

Thank you. And if your dog pees on my roses again...
Congrats! And you don't bore me at all. Have a fabulous time with the family this Saturday.
Thanks sweetie! Hope you are feeling better today!
Happpy anniversary
Thank you!
Happy anniversary and birthday.

And I don't think it will be boring at all--I'm still at that point where I want to "grow up" fast, and adults seem to have all the fun. That will likely change soon, though.
And most adults wish they were still teens (at least in some ways). I've often mentioned to my daughter (15) that we aren't keeping the good stuff away from her. She's free to watch a grown-up movie with me (say "La Vie En Rose" which I recently watched) but she'll just be bored. It was true!

There is one thing, though that comes with being an adult that you really can't beat. Adults quit telling you to wait till you're older!

Thanks for the good wishes!
happy anniversary!
Thank you!
Congrats!! What a milestone. And hooray for lengthy reminiscences! I'm pretty sure it's your God-given right at this point. That, and waving a cane at kids and their music.
Yeah. Back in my day we didn't have iPhones. I had to call my girlfriend from a phone booth in freezing weather. And please don't ask me what a phone booth is!
WOW. Congratulations on the anniversary!
59 is not old...pops! LOL
