Too old for that much school?

I'm trying to make up my mind about whether I want to go back to school. Get this: for an MBA. It wasn't enough to spend four years on a BA in Theatre and English, then another two years getting all but my thesis for a Masters in Theatre that I haven't used in thirty years. But I find myself dealing with a lot of business strategy kinds of stuff that I don't have any real training for, so I'm thinking I could use some classes in this.

But a degree? Let's face it: If I could wrap the damn thing up in 18 months as some of the programs promise, it might be worth something. But they cost something like $25k and the company only reimburses $6k a year. That means spread it out over four years or pay out of pocket (hah!). In four years I'll be 60. It's not like this degree would advance my career any, especially when all I really want to do when I grow up is write.

So, I'm thinking I should cherry-pick the courses that would help me in my job right now and skip the whole degree thing unless I come up with some other compelling reasons that I should have one. Maybe it would give me additional credibility in my job. What? A theatre designer and playwright can't write corporate strategy? It's all fiction anyway.
