Clean upper lip

Okay, so as part of my character study for Dag, I started to grow a little mustache like I imagine he would wear. It's thin, but not a razor line. And it is all white blonde, so it almost disappears on his lip unless you are close to him.

But my mustache is only "mostly gray." There's a little bit in the middle that still retains remnants of pigment. Enough so that DW declared that I looked like Hitler and I really needed to darken the gray a little so the dark spot didn't stand out so much. So I stopped at Walgreen's and bought a box of "light brown" mustache and beard dye. I've used this stuff before when vanity was dictating that I was not going to look as old as I thought my gray hair and beard made it appear. I mixed up a tiny bit of the stuff, applied it to my mustache and waited five minutes then washed it out. Voile! It was perfect. Just enough color to make it appear of a piece and not have the little Hitler 'stache stand out.

A couple of hours later, I happened by a mirror and my mustache was all turning dark brown. I rushed into the bathroom and scrubbed it all and rinsed again. It was just barely tolerable. Before bed I walked into the bathroom and was shocked to see a black ribbon on my upper lip. It looked like I'd bought it at a five and dime and pasted it on!

I shaved.

I don't know if it was the sun, a silly reaction I've never had before, or some other mysterious anomaly that caused the color to keep darkening as the day went by, but no one in my family seems disappointed that I've shaved it off.

Ah well. :-{)
