Back it up, mister!

So, I'm waiting for midnight to roll around on the west coast and reading LJ and responding for something to do until the dog comes to go for his late-night walk. Somebody asks whether to save their novel in short files or a single long one and POW! it hits me. Where's my CF card? Most important thing is to back it up, whether its a long file or short ones, or blogged like mine. Man would it suck if you came up to 11/29 and had a computer crash and lost all your hard work because it was in a single file that just happened to have open at the time, so it was corrupted and you just want to go out and kill yourself because you know you'll never get November back and what you wrote yesterday was really good but you can't quite remember how it fit together now.

So back it up. I'm going to make it a practice to copy the current file to a CF card after each writing session and to synchronize my laptop and desktop files. I don't depend on the blog because it's for show. The real text is what I've got in the file marked "2005Nano" on my harddrive and on my matching backup.

Xpost to Wayzgoose and 2005 Nanowrimo.
