Meme--10 things Tagged by frakkthat

RULES: Each player of this game starts off with 10 weird things/habits/little known facts about yourself. People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 10 weird habits/things/little known facts as well as state this rule clearly. At the end you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. No tagbacks.

1) My undergraduate degree and masters work was in Theatre. I have designed and built dozens of shows and have been on stage in numerous roles, most recently as Duke Vincentio in Measure for Measure. I was accepted into the doctoral program at the University of Minnesota as a playwright, but did not pursue it.

2) I was injured playing high school football and still have periodic extreme pain in my neck and back. I'm prone to muscle spasms.

3) I competed in and won a high school speech contest by reading my own poetry. My teacher, who had helped me prepare my presentation and had interpreted my poetry for me (written under a pseudonymn) reprimanded me for it because the poetry readings were supposed to have been by a "recognized poet." I told her they were. She asked who recognized it. I told her she had when she helped interpret it for me. She was satisfied.

4) I was licensed to preach in the United Methodist Church the week after my high school graduation, having completed summer school and correspondence courses prior to that time. I rode my motorcycle 110 miles every other Sunday morning through college to preach at a country church that was at the intersection of two cornfields in northern Indiana.

5) I've been married three times for a total of 34 years. The past 18 have been very happy, thank you. Third time is a charm. I have a spectacular 13-year-old daughter who keeps me young.

6) I attempted to get a CO deferrment for the draft in 1970, but was such an emotional lunatic that I think they avoided me for their own safety. I was issued a 1F rating because I was preaching and before I graduated from college in 1972, I'd drawn lottery number 232 and was effectively safe from the draft.

7) 35 other high school kids and I were lost in the Navaho desert for three days on an overnight hike from Rainbow Natural Bridge to Navaho Mountain. Being a strong football player, I'd carried six backpacks lashed together for kids who couldn't make the passage way with their packs, and when we finally made it out, I raced one of the teachers the last mile and a half from NM to the based camp screaming at the top of our lungs.

8) Over 20 years ago, I began exploring and practicing neo-paganism and hold that as my spiritual path today.

9) I have a live journal in which I write as a 25-yo woman. Most of my LJ friends are young women, for reasons utterly unknown to me.

10) I've purchased in-line skates and am hoping to build up my skill enough that I can skate to and from work when the weather clears.

Eek, me?! :) Well, I think my life pales in comparison to yours as far as interesting events are concerned. Football, huh? You must have been one of the cool kids!

So... for two weeks in August? =P

I suspect that everyone's friends on LJ are young women, which is why you have by far the most interesting version of this list on my friends page today. I'm not saying that 25 year old women aren't interesting, just that you're the only one with a football injury and a reference to the Vietnam draft.
1 & 7.- Ooooh, so very, very cool :o! *speachless*
8.- That sounds very interesting. What is it about??? What you can say in 2, 3 lines, of course :)
9.- For the first I can't say but that it's one of the most original things I've ever seen done by a writer not-yet-famous *smiles*, as for the other, it seems LJ is more used by women, in a 8/1 to men. From what I've seen anyway. I actually know only 2 men in LJ, and... lots of young women and girls. Whereas outside the computer most of my friends are guys.

... and just there I have another proof that you're evil. I'll try to answer it soon, but... I don't think that'll be soon as in this week, sorry! *laughs*
In two or three lines? I follow the cycles of the seasons and try to tune into the common nature that runs through all things. The holidays I celebrate are the Solstices, Equinoxes, and the half-way points between them, which are sometimes better known (Halloween, Groundhogs Day, May Day, Lugnasad). My biggest celebration of the year is Winter Solstice.
