First competition at Intermediate level

Well, I've been pretty lazy this weekend. Translate that as being to sick to get out of my chair. I attended DD's skate competitions on both Friday and Saturday nights and we are all pleased with the results. She placed 7th in both competitions. This is the first time she's skated at the Intermediate level. It is the first time she's skated these programs in competition, had to skate two programs in a single competition, and it was the first time that she had actually completed a contiguous runthrough of her long program (even in practice). I was pleased to see her really go for the jumps and spins. Several jumps were down-graded for incomplete rotations and such, but her spins all received full credit and were truly beautiful to see.

Now she is in a real pickle as she prepares for competition in Seattle in two weeks. She's had three coaches and one has just moved to another rink and won't be able to work with her anymore. One is on vacation this week and won't be able to work with her, and her primary coach has a staph infection and is in the hospital and may not be able to work with her for the next two or three weeks. So the poor girl is trying to correct her program and get ready for competition in two weeks by herself.

Nonetheless, I'm sure she is going to progress and will do better in the next competition than the last.

she will be in our thoughts. we are hoping for nothing but the best for her.
good luck to her!! she should be very proud!
