I'm so psyched!

After a couple of hours editing this morning, I headed downtown to the Market. I drove up on Queen Anne Hill and reproduced the route that I imagined Dag would walk to get to his office on the Waterfront. Then I parked the car and hiked out onto public pier 62-63, next to the phantom pier 61 where Dag's office would be. I snapped pictures of buildings I could see from the Waterfront that had rooftop gardens for penthouse apartments like I imagine the condo in the story would have, then walked the length of the Market.

I stopped in at Lowell's which is where I picture the Eye of Dawn coffee shop to be and sat looking out over the Sound while I continued red pen editing the manuscript while I ate lunch. I did some more walking and headed up to Cafe d' Arte where I imagine that Dag took Angel the night they met and talked about Simon. I sat in the coffee shop and finished red pen edits for the remainder of the book.

Then I went back to the car and headed back home where I've completed another fifty pages of edits on the computer. Woo Hoo!

Red Pen edits: 252/252 pages
Computer edits: 149/252 pages
Vocal proofread: 0/282 pages (New formatting and type sizes have extended the number of pages in this draft.)

So, I'll continue to enter the edits in the paper draft and print a new copy. But the next phase is to read the whole thing out loud and check for any typos or grammar errors, as well as checking the voice to make sure I've got it right. I'll alternate back and forth on computer edits and voice proofreading and intend to have the final draft by EOD tomorrow. I've also got to start writing out the 1-page bio, 1-page synopsis, and cover letter for the two agents. Yikes! I'm now less than 48 hours from putting it in the mail!

YAY!!!! That's awesome. Keep up the good work.

I remember the day you showed me where Dag's office would be. It was so fantastic. I really must visit the area again sometime. :P
